9:00-9:55 am - Feature Workshop

Technical workshop on ribosome profiling with interactive session featuring: Dr. Florencia Caro (Harvard Medical School)

Ribosome profiling is a technique that takes advantage of next generation sequencing technologies to measure the extent of mRNA translation on a whole genome level. By “freezing” ribosomes on mRNA in place and sequencing the “footprint” they leave behind, ribosome profiling provides a snapshot not only of the identity of the transcripts that are being translated at any given time but also by how much (measured as the number of ribosome footprints found on an mRNA). This workshop consists of a 40 minute introduction to the technique and its applications followed by a 20 minute of questions.
