Abstract

Introduction: Sarcomas of the breast are rare and comprise less than 1 % of all breast cancers. Myxofibrosarcoma is an unusual histological type of malignant fibrous histiocytoma first described in 1977. MFH arises more commonly after irradiation or surgery, while primary MFH of the breast arising de novo is extremely rare. Immunohistochemistry (IHC) plays an important role in the diagnosis of MFH. We report the case of a male patient treated in our institue in 2020.

Case presentation: We report a case of a 57 – old man with a remarkable history of breast neoplasm in family, and no previous history of radiotherapy for any reason, who was referred to our department for a right breast mass. Physical findings showed a nontender, mobile, irregular lump measuring 2*2 cm in the supero internal quadrant of the right breast without skin involvement. Axillary or supracalvicular lymph nodes were not palpable. The contrelateral breast was unremarkable. Ultrasonographie revealed an oval opacity with regular contours, and on mammography the tumor was 20 *10 cm in diameter, surounded by normal breast parenchyma and there were no micro calcifications. The patient had a core Needle biopsy and an appearance suggestive of myxoid fibrosarcoma was found. The patient underwent a right mammectomie witch was performed concluded on a high grade myxofibrosarcoma of the breast. In immunochemestriy the tumors cells are CD 34 (+), CK (-), EMA (-) et P63 (-).
Conclusions: Myxofibrosarcoma of the breast arising de novo in the breast is extremely rare and usually presents in the fourth and fifth decade of women life. Male breast cancer itself is a very uncommon entity but the possibility shouldn’t be ignored. Our determination offers significance in the sense that we believe that our case is the seven reported case in the English literature .
