University of São Paulo (USP) is one of the best ranked university of Latin America and a major institution of higher learning and research in Brazil. ICB/USP is the Institute of Biomedical Sciences located in the city of São Paulo, part of the campus “Cidade Universitária Armando de Salles Oliveira” and it is home of talented research professors working on Immunology, Pharmacology, Cell and Developmental Biology, Physiology and Biophysics, Microbiology, Parasitology and Anatomy areas.

ICB/USP has also been committed to cultural and community outreach initiatives. These initiatives are coordinated by the Culture and Extension Committee and by the Coordination Offices existing in each Department. The major activities that have been developed are:

• ICB aberto à Escola (ICB open to the School)
• Mostra de Microbiologia (Microbiology Exhibition)
• Extension Courses
• Microtodos
• Museu de Anatomia Humana “Prof. Alfonso Bovero” (Human Anatomy Museum)
• Healthcare and Research in the Amazon

Currently, ICB/USP has joined BSI aiming to expand its initiatives globally.
